Laurel Teirney

Laurel has undertaken both science and management roles in river, lake and marine fisheries with New Zealand’s Ministry of Fisheries since the 1970s. Since 2000 she has worked independently to develop a range of environmental solutions, including an index of river health with Maori and a holistic community-based approach to look after the Fiordland Marine Area. She has always been committed to involving those on the ground for information and their ability to identify and resolve issues.
